Mitzi Lou Borel passed into the presence of Jesus on January 21, 2024. She died in her sleep at the Kansas City home she shared with her daughter Meredith, her son-in-law Joshua, and her grandson Luke. She also leaves her son Jim, her daughter-in-law Lyn, her grandsons Chris and Justin, her granddaughter-in-law Jessica, and her great-granddaughter Charlotte.
Mitzi was born in Saint Louis, MO to Lewis and Hilda Hagerman on Dec. 12, 1935. She had two brothers, Lewis and Brad. She first married James Williams, Sr. and later Joseph Borel.
Mitzi had many adventures in her life and many eclectic talents! She had many exciting stories from serving as one of the first female police officers in the State of Texas. She also served with the Methodist Church and was a mighty prayer warrior. She taught prevention classes through the Texas Commission on drug and alcohol abuse for a time. She also volunteered frequently at her children’s schools. In her last season of work, she became an area customer service manager at AT&T wireless, where she was much beloved for her optimism and enthusiasm. Even after retirement at age 78, she served faithfully as a volunteer staff person with All Nations Kansas City.
Mitzi got to travel extensively with her daughter Meredith, from Europe to Peru to South Africa to Jordan to Turkey. They had great adventures together! In her last season of life she was known by many as “Mimi,” as her grandson Luke named her. She spent hours in creative imaginative play with Luke, earning her place as one of his favorite people. She attended Navah Church with her family, and often shared wisdom and encouragement with her friends there.
When people describe Mitzi they use words like: caring, kind, spunky, gem, champion, funny, encouraging, fun, lovely, and gusto! She was also an overcomer. Despite her struggles in life, she stayed faithful to Jesus and overcame, with His help. What a powerful legacy! She will be greatly missed!
