Clarence R. Bice

Clarence Raymond Bice went to heaven on Wednesday, 14 November 2007. He died quietly in Lee?s Summit with family members surrounding him. Ray was born on June 1st, 1924 in Jefferson City Missouri, the first son of Kenneth and Elizabeth Bice. As a child, his family moved throughout the Midwest giving Ray a great number of experiences that shaped his life. After graduating from high school in St Louis in 1942, he was drafted into the Army. Ray was an enlisted soldier in General Patton?s 555th Battalion, serving honorably at the Battle of the Bulge and other European theatre battles. After his discharge he came back to the Midwest and married Teresa Ann Dunser in Chillicothe MO on February 1st, 1947. Ray and Teresa moved to Leavenworth Kansas, where Ray was employed at the Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary. Ray worked as a guard and later as a counselor, helping affect the lives of many men in need throughout his career. Ray and Teresa raised six children in Leavenworth. Ray was active in his church, the community and his children?s events. After Ray retired from the Penitentiary, the family moved to Arizona. Ray and Teresa raised the last two children in Tucson. Ray worked for the Pima County Sherriff?s Department for 10 years and retired again. During this time Ray completed a Bachelors degree at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Ray and Teresa enjoyed their lives in Arizona for 26 years before moving back to the Midwest, settling in Lees Summit Mo in 2003. Ray was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Michael Bice. He is survived by his wife Teresa, his children, Charles Robert Bice (Pam), Mary Teresa Shults (Richard), Martha Ann Tranchilla (Albert), Lawrence Raymond Bice (Vici) and Elizabeth Helen Powers (Brian). He leaves ten grandchildren and six great grand children. Rays older sister Margaret Scalise and younger brothers Robert and Ronald are living across the country. His younger sister Shirley Potts preceded him in death last year.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, 17 November, 2007 at 10 AM at St. Margaret?s Catholic Church, 777 NE Blackwell Road in Lee?s Summit. With a visitation one hour before at 9. The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetic Association or the charity of your choice.
