Randy English

William Randolph “Randy” passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007 in Lawrence, KS at the age of 62, after a courageous battle against cancer. Randy was born in Richmond, VA on May 9, 1944 to Robert Tyler and Elizabeth Hodges Mann English. Randy is survived by his loving wife, Jodie Deines English (Lawrence, KS); sister, Bette & Lynn Baird and family (Raleigh, NC); son, Scott and Mary English, Catherine & Andrew (Oklahoma City, OK); mother-in-law, Jean “Pete” Deines (Tahlequah, OK); Lisa & Ken Davis and family (Tulsa, OK); Tyler and Dottie Palumbo-Deines and family (Highland Village, TX); Alan & Ruth Deines and family (Woodbine, KS); his beloved pets, Noel, Heidi, and Molly; and many friends. Randy was preceded in death by his parents and father in law, Kenneth Deines. Randy grew up in the area surrounding Richmond and Williamsburg, Virginia. After proudly serving in the U.S. Marines, Randy began his career in the hospitality industry. His career began in Colonial Williamsburg, but took him to many locations including the Caribbean, the Midwest, southern California, and ultimately, back to the east coast, first to the Williamsburg area and then to Utica, NY. Randy was a man of high standards and he brought out the best in those around him. Not one to crave attention, Randy found great satisfaction in providing exceptional service to others. Randy’s career in the hospitality industry was a natural extension of his personality, and his family and friends knew him as the consummate host and Southern gentleman. Randy was a man of many talents–equally at home in his gourmet kitchen as he was in his garage workshop, both of which won the admiration of many for their impeccable organization! His love of golf continued to be an integral part of his life. Randy loved a good joke, both politely listening as well as telling them in his smooth, Southern-colonial accent. Loved by his family and friends, Randy will be greatly missed. A family memorial service is planned for Wednesday, February 28th at 11:00 AM at The Eudora Chapel, 1003 John L. Williams Drive, Eudora, KS. The family requests donations to Hospice Care in Douglas County, 200 Maine, Ste. D, Lawrence, KS 66044.
